From farm gate to dinner plate, hops to handle, vine to vessel and from lab to platter, this exciting attraction is a new concept for Fieldays. Sponsored by Smeg by Kitchen Things the Kitchen Theatre has a line of top chefs, set up with functional kitchens to demonstrate the paddock to dinner plate philosophy.


Kitchen Theatre

Enjoy culinary presentations featuring delicious recipes and professional techniques while our guest chefs and presenters introduce foods derived from various sources including ingenious advances in precision and sustainable farming techniques, inspired scientific technological development and our incredible natural environment. The focus is on highlighting the foods’ origin and development stories and the importance of knowing what we’re eating from a nutrition and wellness perspective.

The Kitchen Theatre is centrally located, beside the Mystery Creek Pavilion on the M Road and D street intersection. Brett McGregor

New Zealand’s first-ever MasterChef winner Brett McGregor will be joining us for a fourth year to demonstrate his creative, travel-inspired cooking expertise, and he’ll also be MC’ing the area and acting as overall ambassador for Fieldays Kitchen Theatre.


Nadia Lim

Nadia Lim is well-loved as a celebrity chef, cookbook writer and co-founder of ‘My Food Bag’. She is an enthusiastic advocate of the ‘nude food’ philosophy and with her background as a clinical dietitian, will demonstrate healthy, nutritious cooking.

Simon Gault

Brought to you by Farmlands, Simon Gault is a New Zealand celebrity chef, entrepreneur, food writer and television personality, known for appearing as a celebrity chef judge on MasterChef NZ. Simon will be sharing his expertise, his innovative ideas and his boundless enthusiasm for food, with a view to getting people excited to give things a go.

Belinda MacDonald & Neena Truscott

Foodies Belinda MacDonald and Neena Truscott won ‘My Kitchen Rules’ in 2015. These days they run a boutique catering business, The Green Kitchen, and last year opened New Zealand’s first bone broth bar in Cambridge. They’ll be demonstrating their holistic approach to wellness and nutrition using the best in local and seasonal produce.

Megan May

Brought to you by Hyundai, Megan May is the chef and owner of award-winning Auckland cafes Little Bird Organics and The Unbakery. After struggling with severe allergies to gluten, dairy and sugar, she began a lifelong love affair with creating and sharing raw food for wellbeing and pleasure. Get back to nature and learn about beautiful plant-based food, uncooked.

Marc Soper

Marc Soper, representing SheepMilk NZ, is an executive chef at Wharekauhau Country Estate in the Wairarapa. He’ll be cooking with sheep’s milk, which can be turned into special cheeses, yoghurts, amazing gelato and a sweet, subtle panna cotta.


Monique Fiso

Fabulous Michelin-trained chef Monique Fiso spent seven years in New York honing her skills as a sous chef before returning to New Zealand to create a pop-up dining series, Hiakai. Monique will demonstrate traditional Māori foraging and cooking techniques.

Yvonne Lorkin

Columnist and wine judge Yvonne Lorkin will share her extensive knowledge of the New Zealand wine scene by describing the origins, production and characteristics of some delightful New Zealand wines.

Greenlea Butcher Shop

Brought to you by Greenlea Butcher Shop, their expert butcher Fernando DaSilva will display a beef boning demonstration, while chef Diana Bowmar will prepare dishes utilising the cuts of boned meat.


Pantry Marquee

After your visit to the Kitchen Theatre, get inspiration and stock the pantry, fridge, freezer and wine cellar with delicious, New Zealand primary production ingredients in the Pantry marquee. Here you’ll find a smorgasbord featuring artisan meats, specialty cheeses, select cereals, orchard fruits and juices, finest domestically produced liquors, spirits, wines and ales, premium preserves, condiments and sauces, and delectable honey.
