Our volunteer members are the heart of our organisation.

Every year hundreds of people donate their time and talent to help run the biggest agricultural event in the southern hemisphere. They are essential to helping run Fieldays and enabling us to give back to the community. The volunteer team is made up of members of the New Zealand Fieldays Society – the not for profit organisation that runs Fieldays and volunteers who come on board specifically during Fieldays. They help in a number of areas, from hosting, parking, manning information booths, driving courier vehicles, site services, tractor pull and event set up and breakdown.

Volunteer History

Fieldays was first conceptualised in 1968 by a group of local Waikato men. All volunteers, the men organised the first Fieldays event at Te Rapa Racecourse in 1969 with a budget of $10,500.

NZ Agricultural Fieldays will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2018; we have only been able to reach this milestone because of our volunteers. They give their time, skills, and effort during the four days of the Fieldays event, and in turn help our organisation is able to donate over $100,000 dollars to local community groups and charities.
